HopSkipDrive Spreads Holiday Cheer Across the West Coast
Written by HopSkipDrive
This December, HopSkipDrive celebrated the season of giving with our inaugural Stuff the Trunk events. True to our mission of creating opportunity for all through mobility, we went beyond the usual rides HopSkipDrive arranges to deliver much-needed holiday cheer to children and families across the West Coast.
In the spirit of the season, CareDrivers and HopSkipDrive team members in Seattle, Sacramento, and the Bay Area came together to fill our trunks (and backseats!) with gifts, bringing holiday joy to those who need it most. Here’s how we made the holidays a little brighter:
Seattle
We partnered with local organizations like Mary’s Place, Washington Kids in Transition, and Friends of Youth to provide essential items — ranging from toys and clothes to hygiene products — for kids and teens experiencing homelessness.
Sacramento
In Sacramento, we helped fulfill the holiday wishes of youth in foster care supported by Sacramento County DCFAS and the Children’s Law Center. We also sponsored a family through the Sacramento Children’s Home, ensuring their wish list was fully met.
The Bay Area
For our Bay Area event, we collaborated with the Alameda County Office of Education to provide students in their Pregnant & Parenting Teen Program with seasonal gifts — like raincoats and boots — to help ensure they could comfortably continue attending school during the cold and rainy season.
These events truly showcased the spirit of community, with HopSkipDrive staff from across departments coming together with CareDrivers to make a meaningful impact. We are already excited to continue this new tradition in the years to come, finding even more ways to give back to the communities we serve through our HopSkipImpact initiative. HopSkipImpact aims to eliminate transportation as a barrier to educational, enrichment, and empowerment opportunities for students across the country by expanding access to safe and reliable transportation services for young people served by nonprofit organizations.
