What is your location and where do you drive?
I live in Broomfield, Colorado. I drive there as well as in Louisville, Lafayette and Boulder.
What made you decide to become a CareDriver?
As a retired senior, I like helping people!
How did you hear about HopSkipDrive?
From Facebook.
What do you like most about being a CareDriver?
I like everything about being a CareDriver, but I especially like being a regular driver for kids and seniors. I have really enjoyed the opportunity to meet people and share the experiences they have every day.
Have you had any special experiences with Riders that have been meaningful to you?
The senior Rider I drive to church on Sundays was so special that I joined her at church!
What would you say are the most important things you gain from being a CareDriver?
Knowing parents, kids and seniors can depend on me and are grateful for HopSkipDrive.
Have you learned anything surprising from your Riders?
Most Riders do not take the rides for granted, and they are sincerely glad to see me each time I pick them up.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about becoming a CareDriver?
Be highly dependable and willing to listen to Riders when they talk and share their stories.
What do you tell other people about HopSkipDrive?
I tell other people about the great support provided to CareDrivers and the user-friendly software for picking and completing rides.
Do you have any advice you think would be useful for other CareDrivers?
Be patient and understanding of each Rider’s life situation.
How important do you think HopSkipDrive’s mission is, and why?
Very important! So many people need assistance that normal public transportation can’t provide.
