Written by Karen Sampson
Milwaukee-based CareDriver Aimee Guzman loves using her previous experience as a foster parent and a daycare owner to help children in her community.
What do you like most about being a CareDriver?
Having a flexible schedule and earning a good hourly wage. I also enjoy getting to know the children and providing a much-needed service to my community.
Tell us about your caregiving experience.
I am a homeschooling mom of six children. Five of my children were adopted through foster care. My husband and I have fostered over 50 children! Prior to that, I ran my own state-licensed daycare for years.
Have you had any special experiences with Riders that have been meaningful to you?
I have Riders who are very excited every time they see that I am their CareDriver. I love all of their different personalities! The children always brighten my day.
What do you gain from being a CareDriver?
Flexibility, independence and a great sense of purpose.
Do you tell other people about HopSkipDrive?
Yes, I do. My husband and I are both CareDrivers!
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about becoming a CareDriver?
If you love children and are a great driver, it’s a wonderful opportunity.
