HopSkipDrive Partners with Tolleson Union High School District to Drive Innovative Solution to Bus Driver Shortage

About Tolleson Union High School District

Tolleson Union High School District in Tolleson, Arizona, is home to five traditional high school campuses and nearly 12,000 high school students. The district’s leadership and staff — including Chief Financial Officer, Jeremy Calles, and Director of Grants and Federal Programs, Dr. Rosalva Lagunas — work hard to ensure that all of the district’s students have access to safe and dependable transportation.

HopSkipDrive collaborated with Tolleson to create a hub-and-spoke transportation model targeting open enrollment students who live outside district boundaries.

Thanks to this unique partnership and HopSkipDrive’s technology-based transportation solutions, Tolleson has been able to:

  • Provide reliable transportation to out-of-district students

  • Offset staffing shortages

  • Built trust with parents with real-time visibility into ride progress

  • Give students experiencing homelessness and foster care students the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities

“Some of the best aspects of our partnership with HopSkipDrive is the flexibility. We never know which challenges are gonna be coming down the road and what we're gonna face. What has been demonstrated by HopSkipDrive is that when challenges do arise, that we have a partner with them and we're able to quickly and dynamically change our offerings and our models to make sure that we can address all the students that are here at the district.”
